Our Story

Surrey Accountancy Services Ltd (SAS) has been supporting UK start-ups, micro and small businesses for 10 years.

In that time, we have come to understand that small business owners often feel very overwhelmed, when looking for information about a particular area of their business. Also, they sometimes get "tripped up" by legislation that they didn't know, they didn't know. Most importantly, they often don't make enough money to confidently take out what they need each month, knowing that their costs and taxes are covered.

The SAS Business Box was created to help.

Our mission is to empower UK start-ups and small business owners with the knowledge they need, to be confident in their decisions and achieve business success.

Alida Ballard
The Box Creator

"My degree was in Psychology and Human Biology and among  other things, it involved a lot of statistics and learning about people. I love numbers and people, are a very close second :) So, becoming an accountant seemed like the right choice of career for me!

The idea of 'The Box' came to me in mid 2011 but it took until January 2018 for the time to be right, to do something about it. Six and a half months later, The Box was launched!

I love what The Box has been created to do and trust that it will help many business owners succeed and achieve their business goals."

Did you know?  I am a red belt in Tae Kwon Do. Admittedly I got there when I was 12 but it still counts right? ;)

Cara Ballard

Marketing Manager

"I did a placement with SAS back in 2014, and since then I have joined the team. I am also currently studying for a Marketing and Management degree at Newcastle University. In my first term, I successfully lead a team of four in a digital marketing competition to win "Marketers 4 The North East" (we were one of 24 teams). Alongside my studies, I am an active member of the Theatre society and enjoy acting, dancing and singing.

I love the job I do for The Box because it allows me to put the theory I have learnt into practice and see tangible results, both in the growth of SAS and the success of our members. My favourite part is meeting people face to face, sharing my passion for The Box and watching them get excited by it too."

Did you know?  "I have performed in the Winnie the Pooh theatre at Disneyland Paris"

Safia Griffin

Social Media Manager

"I've always been a bit of an odd job, having been a full time musician for several years before retraining as a management accountant. So I love that working for the Box allows me to utilise both sides of my brain, getting stuck into both the creative and the logical."

Did you know? "I once gigged a Christmas party of about 3000 people and when they all sang along to 'All I want for Christmas' it was a moment of pure magic."
